Guinea pigs: 25-30 mg/kg PO daily (maintenance), 50-100 mg/kg PO daily (treatment of deficiency). Give directly by mouth — do not add to drinking water as vitamin C degrades rapidly.

Side Effects
- •Diarrhea at very high doses (uncommon)
- •May acidify urine at high doses

- !Vitamin C degrades in water within hours and alters taste

- !Do not use multivitamins with added minerals unless formulated for guinea pigs
